I, like many others, have a slight crush on mid century and mid century modern decor. I may not have my entire home decked out in it, but I do love adding some mid century elements into my decor for an eclectic look. There’s something about the clean line & the hardware that make it so chic. It could also be that use of brass, can you hear my heart pitter patter? I love brass. So, when I asked by Chairish to put together a post about mixing mid century with non midcentury items was up for the challenge. That’s what I love to do is mix different styles to create a look that suits my clients needs.

I found a mid century modern piece when I was out thrifting one day. I loved the shape, the size and of course the brass hardware. I tried to restore it but failed miserably. I sent it off to be professionally painted and could not have been happier. It was the perfect piece for my foyer.

I love the way the foyer looks with the mid century modern buffet, a gold mirror and fun lamp.

I scored another fun piece for my sons room. This dresser was love at first sight. His room has such a great mix of old, new & just all sorts of random that make his room so fun. This piece was simple but yet makes a great statement in his room.

Finally in our home, my obsession with campaign dressers, desks, etc. I actually have a blue campaign dresser in my guest bedroom and my oldest son has a blue campaign desk. I love so much about them. They really are a versatile piece. They’re fun painted and if you’re lucky enough to find one in good condition they are equally as stunning in their natural state.

Mid Century modern can blend into so many styles. Hollywood glam, boho chic or whatever you want. Here are some inspiration rooms I’ve put together to show you a good way to mix.

I love this space below for several reasons. My personal style leans a little more on the glam and glitzy side. I love brass, clean lines and a polished look. The starburst pendant which is even more stunning in person. I’ve used it in several projects from living rooms, bedrooms and powder rooms. You can mix a more traditional sofa, newer styled lamps and a fun rug to give it an eclectic but put together look.

The sofa and starburst light can all be found at Chairish.

You don’t have to redo your entire office space to give it a nod to mid century style. One anchor piece such as a desk or even a chair can do just that. Have fun with colors and patterns to give your space an updated look.

You can find this desk, the lights and the wingback chair at Chairish.

Chairish has fabulous mid century pieces and it’s constantly changing. So be sure to stop by often to see what they have each week!

Happy hunting friends!
