Hi friends!

I’ve been keeping a secret for what seems a very long time, almost a year now. My best friends didn’t even know, and I finally was able to share it today. I honestly felt like it was a dream and still couldn’t believe it. You see, someone in the TV world thought what we did was pretty cool…so this happened.

We filmed a pilot for our HGTV show, Charleston Charm! I still can’t believe I’m saying our show because it’s truly a dream come true! I remember watching trading spaces in college and wanting so badly to be a part of it. I always thought, I could do that, I want to do that, I’m going to try and do that. Fast forward 15 years and that dream is a reality.

A reality of showing you what we do here in Charleston. But that’s not how it began. My husband and I started in software sales, where we met, fell in love and eventually got married. Somewhere in that time frame of meeting and falling in love I got my real estate license because of him. And that was 12 years ago, wow! Ryan and I then began flipping houses. Slowly, flipping houses turned into selling a home to a client, putting together a high level renovation plan, and executing it with Sceltas, a construction company Ryan co-owns with James Arthur.

That story is now our HGTV pilot for our show, Charleston Charm. Ryan and I help a client find a home here in Charleston, renovate it and give it some of that Charleston Charm. We help families establish their roots and begin their lives here. It’s amazing that we get to be a part of such an important moment in people’s lives!

All of this happened on one random day during the week where I received an email from a production company who wanted to talk about our work. We spoke and skyped a lot and eventually got to a point where they wanted to create a sizzle. We created it and sent it off. Well, they came back and said we had a pilot! I still remember the Skype call. My oldest had a fever, I was confused and tried to call Ryan on his cell to let him hear the exciting news. He couldn’t hear a word, and my oldest was about to throw up. I told them I had to call back because I was running to the doctors. Chaos!

Our next step was time to find a family who would be a good fit for the show. We interviewed several people and decided on one who went on this crazy adventure with us. Our couple was pregnant and due soon, Ryan had hernia surgery, I got the flu, and with all of that, we still had to renovate a home in 6 weeks. Oh… while keeping this from everyone!

It has been the most humbling and most amazing experience of our lives. We could not have gotten this far without the amazing support of our family and friends. Our friends, especially, who keep coming back to do some fun house shopping and ask us to make a house their dream home.
